Dynamics 365 Customer Insights

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights unifies transactional, behavioral, and demographic customer data into one real-time profile, then uses Copilot to build segments, journeys, and content from that data. Getting to know your customers shouldn't feel like introducing your systems to each other every morning.

Why Dynamics 365 Customer Insights

Customer data that can support better journeys

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights brings Customer Insights Data and Customer Insights Journeys together. It can unify customer records and support audience and journey work, but the useful design starts with source quality, consented uses, ownership, and the decisions your team needs to make. TruNova helps connect that work to your wider business applications.

What you can do with Dynamics 365 Customer Insights

When Dynamics 365 Customer Insights is worth a closer look

Start with the work that needs to change. These are useful reasons to assess the fit.

  • You need a tenant level view of unified people and interacted people across customer data and journey work.
  • Marketing, sales, and service teams can agree on source ownership, audience definitions, and the customer moments they want to improve.
  • Your organization can support Dataverse access, data stewardship, consent choices, and ongoing measurement after implementation.

Planning examples

What a first phase could cover

Use discovery to define a first phase around a business priority and the systems it depends on.

Start with one business priority

You need a tenant level view of unified people and interacted people across customer data and journey work.

Include the connection that matters

Connect customer data and journey context to sales work after the teams agree which records, identities, and measures Sales should own.

Separate software from services

Software pricing and implementation costs

Microsoft lists Customer Insights as a tenant level license rather than a per user seat. Attach eligibility, capacity, region, taxes, currency, and channel terms affect the amount billed. SMS phone numbers and delivery require a separate provider account.

What changes the implementation budget?

  • The number and quality of customer sources, identity rules, duplicate handling, and the fields that should form a unified profile.
  • The volume of unified people and interacted people, peak interaction periods, channels, and any separate SMS provider requirements.
  • The roles, environments, journey ownership, consent model, reporting definitions, and operating routine that keep the data useful.

Questions about Dynamics 365 Customer Insights

Before you decide

Is Dynamics 365 Customer Insights priced per user?

No. Microsoft describes the current Customer Insights license as tenant level, with capacity for Unified People and Interacted People. Users still need appropriate access to connected Dynamics 365 applications and data, and the tenant quotas are shared across its environments.

What should we prepare before Customer Insights uses our data?

Start with the sources, identity rules, audience definitions, consent choices, owners, and reporting questions. Discovery then separates data that should be unified from data that should stay in its source system and confirms the integrations and capacity the plan needs.

Can Customer Insights connect with Sales and Service?

It can work with Dynamics 365 applications through Dataverse and configured connections, but each application’s data and features have their own licensing and access requirements. We map the records and user actions first so the integration has a clear purpose.
